Digger is a delightful white and deaf boy.

A gentle giant, he is very laid back and will just plonk down wherever he is for a sleep if the need calls. He is beautiful with children, letting them cuddle and play with him.

You can communicate with Digger via hand signals. An extended index finger (point) indicates "Sit" with a closely followed thumbs up and treat once he does so. A gentle stroke along his back when he is not looking at you will let him know you require his attention; a wave from a distance will let him know you want him to come to you. He is still young and learning so prospective owners must be willing to also learn and utilise these skills on a daily consistent basis. High quality treats such as roast chicken or a cheese cube should ensure these signals and techniques become firmly planted into Digger's mind and will make for a life long easy way to communicate. And of course, continue to talk to him, smile at him, kiss and cuddle him - do everything you would do to any other dog: your body language, facial expressions and love conveyed during speech are also the soundless ways to convey your message.

Digger is excellent on lead and travels well in the car. He is toilet trained. He would prefer a home without cats and/or pocket pets and to be the only dog. He would prefer a home where someone is home more often than not and a home with a large fenced and secure yard would also be his ideal environment.

Once the skills required of a deaf dog are mastered, life with Digger will be plain sailing. Get him out for a good rigorous walk daily, a yard with sunny spots to call his own and you will have one contented dog.
